The aim of this project is to explore how video/installation based art can interact with the composition of music, and how we can develop work where both art forms genuinely influence the manifestation of one another. Establishing a collaborative environment where there is a constant critical evaluation of the creative motivation for collaborating across art forms, we are interested in exploring how the work is affected by the context in which it is ‘shown’. How references that are particular to one art form are affected by the context, and received by the audience, of the other art form. How one as a creative individual can negotiate the fact that what can be seen as a profound gesture in one art form is experienced merely as an established scenographic effect in another. What happens when the works reference points are destabilised and the framework of ones vocabulary is disturbed? Is it possible to create a ‘third language’? Is this interesting, or is it more challenging to find new ways for art forms to co-exist?
